A few days ago, I mentioned I have been wanting an iPad, particularly the iPad 2. Well, no more.
I have been wanting something small and lightweight that I could bring to work or anywhere else to primarily write, read electronic books, and other things. There is an app for the iPhone and iPad that allows you to write in it, then sync it with Scrivener, my writing software, but the iPhone is too small to do more than text messages on. I thought the iPad might be just the thing. The husband loves his.
Today, as a treat after we did the taxes, the husband and I went out to lunch, and then stopped by the Apple store. I tried out the different features of the IPad, particularly the keyboard. I don’t know what I imagined it would be, but after trying it, I knew in less than a minute it was not for me. It’s cool and all, but it definitely is a media consumption device versus a creation device. There’s a portable bluetooth keyboard you can buy, but then there’s another piece of equipment to carry around, and it loses its value as lightweight and easy. No, not for me, unfortunately.
Of course the husband, because he knows me so well, already knew that. And I think he had a pretty good idea what would work for me, because I fell in love with something he showed me. It met all my criteria and will do everything I want. So he got it for me as an early birthday present.
I love that man!
