Vacation’s Almost Over

On Monday I’m heading back to work after two weeks of vacation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time off, and although I know I’ll have to hit the ground running come Monday, I’m kinda looking forward to it.  Don’t get me wrong–if I could, I would stay at home and write full time.  Maybe if I win the lottery.  (I think you have to buy a ticket to do that, though, which means I would have to go to the store.  Okay, so I’m probably not going to win.)

I had a writing post planned for tonight, but we’re having company over tomorrow and I spent the day cleaning.  Maybe even some obsessive cleaning.  I’ve always been one of those cleaners who starts on the edges and works her way in–and the kitchen is always last because I hate doing it.  My way of cleaning means that frequently the central areas look much worse before they look better.

Had a mishap tonight.  I have a bad knee; I’ve been using a cane for going on two years.  My kitchen sink is built into a corner that is too deep for me to reach.  I couldn’t climb on the counter because of the bad knee, so I got the step stool from the library to see if I could get some height and reach the back of the counter to clean it.  Unfortunately, the stool got out from under me and I slammed my bad knee into the edge of the step stool.  It hurt like a word that isn’t heck.  Now I can’t tell whether it made my knee worse, or better.

It would be really ironic if it made my knee better, as a similar fall started the whole knee pain thing more than three years ago.  I guess I’ll know more in the morning.

Anyway, I’m exhausted and achy tonight, so this is the best I can do.  G’night, all.

  1. Hope you didn’t kill the knee too badly! 😦 But I’m very glad that you’re back to work this week! Enjoy your last day of relaxation.
